What type of footing do you prefer for your carport?

• Standard Footing: posts are placed at minimum of 3′ deep by 2′ wide and encased in concrete. Concrete should be in accordance with ACI standard specifications.
• Caisson Footing with Baseplate: This requires a rebar cage. When using a base plate, anchor your posts to the baseplate with 2 screws on each side of the post 4″ from the bottom.
• Spread Footing: Place a rebar base in the 3′ deep and 2′ wide hole.

Post caps should be installed to keep debris and pest from entering the post. Once you’ve set all your posts, you may trim off the top section of your post to accommodate for roof pitch.

Carports and RV shelter kits are engineered to have a 1/4″ over 12″ slope if needed.

Attach caps to all post with 1 screw on each side of cap with panel.

Attach purlins to the outer posts with eight screws and no washers. Fasten purlins to the inner posts with 4 screws.

Note: Pre-drilling holes to purlins provides easy instalation and even screw spacing.

Make sure your first panel is squared to your frame. Measure the outer edge of your panel to ensure it is equal distance to the perpendicular purlin.

Fasten panels along the purlins with screws 18″ on center on the low seam of the panel.

A row of screws 2′ on the center should be installed at every panel overlap.

4 Strap Braces should be attached along the 4 corners of your carport.

Strap Braces are installed at a panel overlap and attached with 3 screws – one on the purlin and one on each side of the roof panels.

Trim comes in 1 long 10′ section and can easily be cut to size using a grinder or metal cutting snips.

Fasten trim to the high seams of the panels 12″ on center.

Sections of trim are butted end to end. Corner sections can be overlapped or installed with a 45 degree mitre cut.
